My First Week in The Role of A Teacher

haha i guess when i reflect upon this past week as a teacher, you can see my cheeky smirk and sleepy eyes..

i must say it turned out meaningful and noble the way i expected it, also would be the youthful fun and laughter that surround the short week of memories, with the students both in the front rows and the backgrounds of the classes, big laughs, cheekiness that capture your attention, shyness when picked on, big wide grins when you say good job done, snaky thoughts, caught with comics, dreaming, sleeping, playing truant, etc etc. i'm sure you and me had been students before, hopefully you have not lost that special memories of those days..

but one thing i never expected, it is many times more tiring than i expected.. by the time you're done with school you can literally fall dead to the floor for hours without you knowing until hunger knocks on your semi-conscious tummy.

teachers are paid professionally as speakers to talk, and thus our performance should be rated according to our abilities to talk and listened by the people we teach. quite a milestone to set for myself. have i done a fair job so far? seriously i can't judge. but one thing for sure, i am glad i have students who walked up to me and offer me his or her hand to salam when classes are over today.. that feels sweet..

day 1, i learned that one hour of teaching requires at least 2 hours of preparation behind the scenes and perhaps one hour of listening and understanding what the audience needs from your presentation.

day 2, i learned that knowing what you are about to teach in and out and even upside down is very much crucial because you can not give confidence to the students until you display a competent skill sets to teach. that makes me as much a student as the rest of my students.

day 3, i learned that a real educational journey is not one of absolute teaching and learning, it is a 2 way communication that shares what we all know and have fun making a fool of ourselves in the process of learning.

day 4, a real teacher does not simply focus on his subject matter, he influences lives of the students in the process of educating.

day 5, there's nothing more satisfying than reaching deep down a student's heart and make him or her understand that he or she can rely on you and communicate his or her feelings.

let's see what happens in the second week as i explore more of the world of education~~ yo~~ peeps i am freaking tired now i just want to sleep like a dead pig..
